It's Tuesday night and you want to head to Tony Roma's, have some ribs then catch the latest blockbuster flick on the big screen. You decide on what movie to see, and you and your friends think it doesn't matter where you go to see it so you head to the closest theater because they are all the same. Well, think again.
In Edmonton, all movie houses are not the same and I was surprised to find the two Cineplexes where not even equal. I use to live by south commons and we would often hit the South Commons Cineplex for a show. It had great seating, great screen and great sound. My friends would sometimes want to go to Silver City to see a show there and I would go only to discover the seats sucked and I would spend two hours being uncomfortable. My elbows kept going into the cup holder and the chair was stiffer then me on Viagra. I hate Silver city. The parking sucks, the theft and vandalism sucks and, the chairs suck. South common was simply the better theater in town
Then we moved to Saint Albert and the first time I went to the North Cineplex, I assumed if would be the same if not better. I was wrong. The chairs are not the same. In the South Edmonton Cineplex, the chairs recline a touch adding more comfort, the north end ones don't recline.
So, if you heading to a show, may as well hit South Edmonton Commons. If it wasn't for the congested traffic on 23 ave, it would be heaven in Edmonton.

PS
I also like Empire 10 Clareview Cinemas. Anytime I have gone, it hasn't been too busy and the tickets were cheaper. It isn't as good as the Cineplex but it is a nice alternative. Especially if you have kids and want to see a matinee.
